Shiromuku
Shiromuku(all-white kimono) is the most formal wedding style and represents purify and cleanliness. The white color also signifies the bride’s willingness to give up her family and be painted by her husband’s family.
Occasionally, red color is used to Shiromuku’s bottoms, sleeves, and collars in order to add gorgeousness. During the wedding ceremony, they wear Tsunokakushi or Wataboushi.
Irouchikake
Irouchikake is also one of the most representative wedding dresses as well as Shiromuku.
Red fabric is only used for unmarried women, and auspicious omen motifs are provided such as TSURUKAME(Crane & Tortoise), HOUOU(Chinese phoenix), SHOCHIKUBAI(Pine & Bamboo & Ume blossom) and GOSYOGURUMA(A family crest) on the cloth.
Honfurisode
Honfurisode is the most formal style dress for unmarried women.
After Shiromuku, brides wear Honfurisode to express that they became a member of their husband’s family .
No one except for brides is allowed to wear Honfurisode and wedding ceremony is the last time to wear “Honfurisode” for brides.
